In this
2-player online game, students must add, compare, and find
equivalent fractions in order to race across a series of
0-1 number lines. Here are the details:
- There are 7 number lines
from 0 to 1.
- Your goal is to get all 7
of your objects to the end of your lines.
- There is a timer so you
have to think quickly.
- You begin at 0. A card
appears with a fraction on it. Let's say it is 3/6.
You can move 3 spaces on the 6ths line. Or you can
- move to 1/2.
- You can also split up
your move. Since 3/6 = 2/6 + 1/6 and it can also
equal 1/3 + 1/6, you can move to 1/3 and 1/6 on
their respective lines. That's
enough information to get started. Play
a couple of practice games to learn what's
possible.
Today 4/6 is working part time at the Fraction Track
on the playing board at two positions, 2/3 and 4/6.
